Patterned internal and external fragmentation cylinders.
The fragmentation cylinder determines how the ammunition breaks up on impact. The pattern on its surface controls the lines along which fragmentation occurs and the size of the resulting fragments. Without the pattern, fragmentation is random and effectiveness cannot be predicted.
Because pattern depth and pitch directly determine fragmentation characteristics, repeatability is everything here; thousands of the same part must be identical. We cut the patterns on multi-axis machining centres and verify sample parts from every batch in the measurement laboratory.
