G55609001Buffer group, bolt group and accessories.
This group covers the moving parts that complete the cycle of the weapon and the components that hold them together. The buffer kit brings the spring and the weight together; the charging handle is used to retract the bolt carrier by hand; and the gas block directs the gas tapped from the barrel to the bolt carrier, starting the cycle.
Because these parts are subject to impact and friction with every shot, heat treatment and surface hardening are critical. If hardness is insufficient wear accelerates; if excessive the part becomes brittle — the right balance is achieved only through controlled heat treatment followed by full dimensional inspection. Buffer weight also determines cycle speed; the choice varies with barrel length and intended use.
